Jill and I were neighbors in Highland Park. We bought our first home and settled next to Jill and Joel. We gave birth on the same day at the hospital and were three doors away with our new babies in our arms. I did not receive a Xmas card this year and came upon this sad news. Jill was always kind, gentle and happy. I will never forget her and she will always be in my heart.

I knew Jill through our mutual connection with Burkina Faso. We were 10 years apart in our Peace Corps service in Burkina. From our Peace Corps experiences in Burkina, we shared a common concern for, and commitment to helping girls to overcome, the challenges that girls from indigent families faced in getting access to education. Jill was a long term and very generous supporter of girls’ education in Burkina.
My deepest condolences to all of Jill’s family. Jill was a very caring an giving person.

For more than 25 years Jill’s family and my family have been friends. It began with our same age sons becoming middle school friends and continued to the 2 of us chaperoning an 8th grade French immersion weekend as bunkmates, to the kids high school dramatic and musical endeavors. The friendship further continued with being included to visit the Rosenheim farm in Wisconsin and getting to know Jill’s wonderful parents. Occasional dinners and Ravinia… I came to the winter art show/sale Jill hosted every year and have my very favorite perfectly shaped canape trays that hold goodies from my favorite loaf pan. I was in awe of her talents and giant heart. I’m going to miss Jill’s generosity and grace and grieve especially for her young granddaughter and her soon to be here grandchild.

So many happy memories of Jill. She was kind, sweet, smart, giving, talented, and so much more. A true woman of valor. We lived around the corner from the Rosenheims and met as babies when our moms walked their buggies with us in them. From then through high school and beyond I loved our times together. My deepest sympathies to all of her family, extended and nuclear, and to her many many friends. She touched us all,

Jill, Nancy and I lived in a big house together for the summer session at Skidmore College. Jill had a snake named Raskolnikov. The snake went missing. I was afraid it might appear in my bed! I always wondered if she ever found it. While visiting Tuscon, we would hike together, watch the sunset on Mt. Lemon and share memories. I mentioned to her that we didn’t know many people in Tuscon. She arranged a dinner so that we could meet more of her friends. So thoughtful and caring. I hear her sweet voice in my head and heart. May she rest in peace.

Jill, if I make it to heaven too, I’m counting on you to teach me all the cards game there! I hope to see you soon, but not too soon. You were a wonderful person and friend.

What a beautiful service. I am grateful to have known Jill and to have been touched by her life, however briefly or infrequently. May the beings with pink tendrils always be a comfort at her side and in the memories of her family and friends.

luckily, I collected several pieces of Jill’s pottery over the years, and I’ll always have them to remember her by.
