Avis Streicher, 74, née Colky, loving mother of Heather (Bryan Wickert) and Andrew Streicher; dear sister of the late Steve Colky and sister-in-law of Jean Colky; cherished aunt of Brian, David and Julie Colky and great-aunt of Kevin Godman; treasured friend to many. Avis cared about the world around her; she was a dedicated animal lover and teacher. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Memorial service Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Inurnment following at Shalom Memorial Park, Beth She’arim Mausoleum. September 20th, 2025

Avis and I were friends for over fifty years. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding. I was one at hers. She went on to have two children with her husband Howard, Heather and Andrew. Avis was a gifted teacher. She worked for many years in the Chicago Public School system.
She loved animals and always had pets. Although she had health challenges later in life, she still lived her life as fully as she could. I will miss my dear friend,
