Obituary

Marci Goldstein Adams, 57, of Northbrook, Illinois, passed away on July 13, 2025.

A loving wife, cherished mother, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Marci will always be remembered by her loving kindness, gentle grace, cheerful good humor, unconditional support, and her goodness through and through. She was the calm in everyone’s storm. The world and our lives are better because she was in it.

Marci was the beloved wife, best friend, and partner of David Adams, happily married for over 20 years; loving mother of Simon Adams and Frederick “Freddy” Adams; cherished daughter of the late JoAnn Feldman Goldstein and the late Arthur Goldstein; precious daughter-in-law of Phyllis Adams and Leonard Adams; dear sister to Mark Goldstein; beloved sister-in-law to Patti Goldstein, Bruce Adams, Eve Becker, Heather Adams, and the late Jacob Adams; adored aunt of Bella Goldstein, Hannah Adams, and Sasha Adams; dear friend to Pam Burkman and many.

Marci grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois, and made lifelong friendships, some of which held strong for over 50 years, stretching from elementary school, high school, and college to the present. Marci graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1990 and received her master’s in public health from the University of Illinois Chicago in 2004. She worked as a research coordinator, research manager, and data analyst report writer for NorthShore University HealthSystem/Endeavor Health for 25 years. There, she was the backbone of the data analytics activities of the OB/GYN department. Her colleagues said Marci extracted meaning, as if by magic, from raw data, with her work characterized by precision, thoroughness, and creativity, always delivered with gentle good humor.

Her biggest love was for her family: David, Simon, and Freddy. She loved and supported them endlessly. She served as a chairperson and den leader for Northbrook Cub Scout Pack 64, among other volunteer and community activities. From bike riding to baking, camping to canoeing, Marci was always up for an adventure.

Choosing not to let cancer define her, Marci faced the disease with quiet strength while raising a family and continuing her career. Many never knew of her condition, a testament to her resilience and unwavering spirit.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday July 20, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Makom Solel Lakeside, 1301 Clavey Road, Highland Park, Illinois 60035, with the shiva at the synagogue immediately following the service until 6 p.m. on Sunday. The final night of shiva is at Makom Solel Lakeside on Monday, July 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. For information and to leave condolences, www.shalommemorial.org or (847) 255-3520.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marci’s memory may be made to On Your Feet Foundation, onyourfeetfoundation.org, which supports birthmothers after placement of their children through adoption, or to Susan G. Komen, komen.org, which invests in research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
