I was close with Howie during grade school at Goldsmith
His family dog. Shotsie was a beautiful German Shepherd
As a kid How believed if he grew his hair long he would be strong
Later Howie and I played ball against the wall he outlined against Luella school
He had a great laugh that I will always remember
The last tile we spoke was when he had opened a store and we remembered the old gang
Maxie Terry Stuart and Alan
We will miss him

Karen and family;
This is cousins Laurie and Larry Bernstein. We are so very sorry to hear about Howard’s passing.. I think the last time we saw you was at your lovely home in Florida quite a few years ago. Our condolences to your family. May Howard rest in peace.

Howie was more than a neighbor on Luella – we were buddies. Last time I was with Howie, I was visiting Chicago, and we knew it had been way too long since we last talked. We had a lovely dinner and reminisced about our “fake wedding.” No, really. We were maybe 8 or 10 years old, maybe younger, and in his basement, we “got married.” We were not boyfriend and girlfriend, we just got married. Will always make me smile.

Growing up on the same street, Howie was always nice – I was younger than all the boys. In our adult years I saw him infrequently iat Southside get togethers and again, so warm and genuine. My heartfelt condolences to Karen & the family… too young, too soon.

I met Howard when I was about eight maybe nine years old at our brothers Little League games. We remained dear friends, our whole lives. He was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and I know he will be missed by everyone who knew him. May you rest in peace Howard.
