Obituary
Howard D. Pass, 75, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026. Beloved husband and best friend of Karen (née Dishkin) for 48 wonderful years; loving father of Meredith (Brad) Rago, Hollis Pass, and Alexis Pass; cherished grandpa of Naomi and Charlie Rago; much-loved brother of the late Norman (Hannah) Pass and the late Judith Willis; treasured uncle, great-uncle, and friend of many. Howard grew up on the South Side of Chicago and graduated from Bowen High School. He met the love of his life, Karen, after being set up on a blind date, and it was love at first sight. They married in 1978 and soon settled in Buffalo Grove, where they built a loving home and raised their family. A true entrepreneur, Howard worked in a variety of industries throughout his career. From importing jewelry, to owning an audio store, to eventually operating a restaurant alongside his beloved Karen, he approached every endeavor with dedication, determination, and a strong work ethic. While Howard worked hard, his greatest joy was always his family. He treasured family vacations to South Florida, cheering from the sidelines at his daughters’ sporting events, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most. Although family was his pride and joy, becoming a grandfather brought him his greatest happiness. He adored Naomi and Charlie and cherished every moment he spent with them. Howard will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the love and kindness he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all. Memorial contributions in Howard’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
