Obituary
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 24, 1948 to the late Irving and Norma (Zeitlin) Schneider.
Jeff grew up on the west side of Chicago, where he attended Austin High School, but could mostly be found in Columbus Park on the baseball diamond or the frozen pond. A few years later, Jeff met the love of his life, Ellyn, and they were always together for the rest of his days. For the last 28 years, they were literally together as Ellyn’s kidney sustained his life!
His sons followed in his footsteps, and Jeff was always with them: he was the president of their youth hockey organization, drove the team bus, and coached their baseball teams. As anyone in ear shot could tell you, Jeff was always at his son’s games. Even the Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox got sound advice from him through the TV. Beyond family, Jeff was proud of his work at American Honda Finance, where he rose to National Manager of Dealer Development and Training. Jeff also had a passion for food and community. In his community, he founded the Dinner for Six club, was a member of the Skybox club, and was the co-chair of the Social Commission. But there’s nothing he loved more than a tiny glass bottle of diet coke. “The pressure enhances the flavor.”
Jeff was beloved husband to Ellyn Schneider, née Siegel, happily married for 51 wonderful years; loving father to Scott (Shayna), Josh (Hayle) and Matt (Kayleigh) Schneider; cherished Papa to Ari Schneider and Grandpa to Conrad and Maddie Schneider; dear brother in-law to Lonny and Gayle Siegel; much loved brother to the late Shelley (the late Margie) Schneider; proud daddy of his four-legged, furry son Auggie; treasured uncle to Randi (Betsy), Ilene (Todd), Debbie (Scott), Ross (Heather), Gary (Jamie), Stacy (Aaron), and Robbie (Jen); and cousin and friend to many.

I was lucky to meet Jeff thirty years ago at Honda Finance. One a born and bred New Yorker and one a son of Chicago we were two big city guys in a company full of SoCal guys so we hit it off immediately. He was a colleague but more so a friend as we travelled around the Northeast helping to grow AHFC. We also each had sons, him three, me four so much of our conversation was about them and their activities. One of my real joys is that our two eldest have become best of friends. Jeff always made every event, every meeting, every party just a little better. I will miss my friend.

Jeff was a special person who touched the lives of so many people around him. I will always be grateful he gave me the opportunity to work with him when he hired me at Honda Financial Corporation.
Jeff had a heart of gold. He was kind, caring, generous, and someone who made the people around him feel valued. During the time we worked together, we shared many good times, plenty of laughter, and countless moments that I will always remember fondly.
I have many cherished memories of the time we spent together, and I feel fortunate to have known Jeff and to have been a part of his life. His kindness and genuine spirit left a lasting impression on me, and he will be deeply missed.
My thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Jeff’s family and all those who loved him.

Much Like Our Mutual Friend,Wayne Meyers Recollections, Jeff and our Vlise knit Group of Friends from Austin , dating back to the Early ‘60 ‘s Hung out, played every game imaginable, at Columbus Park, and Emmett playground. Jeff was known for his ‘Expressive ’ Nature. The kind of guy you were Glad to call Friend. We shared a lot of Life’s Trials and Very personal Dialogue over 60 yrs
You could say We Loved each other like Brothers. I cannot fathom his passing , but, He will Forever Be With me in spirit & memory until I see him again on the other side

Jeff and I knew each other as good friends for many, many, years. We shared great memories of growing up together in the Austin neighborhood. We played baseball, hockey, softball, golf , and played cards together. We laughed and cried together. I would say Jeff was like a brother to me. We were definitely a lot alike. He will sorely be missed. May God be with you my brother.
