Obituary

Hope S. Black, 75, passed peacefully on January 23, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Terry for 14 wonderful years; a loving mother to Lindsey (Jackson Howard) Behr, Joshua (Haley) Behr, Graham (CJ) Black, and Reed (Emily) Black; and a devoted “GiGi” to Jax and Remington. She was a much-loved sister to Bryan (Julie) Barrish and Lori Barrish, a treasured aunt, and a dear friend to many. Hope was always dressed to the nines—perfectly put together even when simply spending time at home. She was a dedicated mother who was always there for her children and their friends, while also encouraging independence and allowing her children to learn from their own experiences. Known as the “second mom” to many, Hope was always ready to listen, offer support, and provide a safe place for those who needed it. Hope was deeply passionate about advocating for animals and spent many years rescuing and caring for thoroughbred horses, as well as cats and dogs. A dedicated and accomplished businesswoman, she built a successful company, ResQrganics, a natural and organic skincare line for both people and pets. Through her business, she touched countless lives and generously donated her time and products to numerous rescue organizations. When she was not spending time with family or working, Hope was a devoted volunteer at Keshet, where she found great fulfillment in giving back and helping others. While she cherished her roles as a devoted wife, mother, and GiGi, Hope was also incredibly proud of being a successful businesswoman and a fierce advocate for animals. Her compassion, strength, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed. Memorial donations in her honor may be made to Felines and Canines Animal Rescue, www.felinescanines.org/donate or Smile Train, www.smiletrain.org/donate. Chapel service, Monday, January 26, 2026; 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
