Obituary

Sandra “Sandy” Greenberg (nee Caisman), 78, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Martin for 52 wonderful years; loving mother of Jason (Ariele Riboh), Matthew (Jennifer) and Stacy; cherished “Nana” of Kaitlyn, Ryan, Jacob, Camden and Mackenzie; much loved sister of Maxine (Gary) Goldstein; adored aunt of several nieces and nephews; treasured best friend of the late Frances “Aunt Fran” Weiss for 70 years; darling great aunt and friend to many. Sandy was raised in Chicago, where she met the love of her life, Martin. They eventually settled in Wheeling where they built a beautiful life, raised their children, and created lifelong memories. Sandy was a hardworking woman who spent many years working as a secretary, but no matter how busy life became, her family always came first. She never missed an event her children participated in and was always there to cheer them on, support them and make sure they knew how proud she was. Sandy found joy in the simple things in life. She loved to cook, and her famous brisket and spaghetti will forever be remembered and enjoyed through the memories they created around her table. She loved to knit, meet friends for lunch, curl up with a good romance novel, work through the Sunday crossword puzzle and, of course, play a competitive game of Scrabble. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest accomplishment and deepest source of happiness was her family. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with the people she loved, creating memories and simply being together. Her warmth, kindness, loyalty and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Sandy will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered always. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org. Graveside service, Monday, September 14, 2026; 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Park 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. For the link to view the service and to leave condolences: www.shalommemorial.org or (847) 255-3520.
