It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Deborah Brooks on June 15, 2026 in Chicago, Illinois. She was 75 years old. Born on August 19, 1950, Eileen was the fifth of five girls born to the late Bessie and Joseph Brooks.

Eileen was a lifelong learner, passionate about politics, Judaism and philanthropy. She received her Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan, and her love of books and reading translated into a career as a librarian in a variety of library settings. Eileen enjoyed the theater and spent years volunteering as an usher, allowing her to view shows frequently. She always had a cherished cat in her home, from Butterscotch to Yofi to Beauty. She was a generous and thoughtful gift giver, and she loved a good blintz.

Eileen is survived by three sisters, Lois (Don), Marlene (Jon), and Janice and was preceded in death just two months prior by her beloved sister, Gloria (Norm and Al). She will always be remembered by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
