Cecile Margulies

Cecile Margulies, 91, mother of Jonathan (Liz Ellis) and the late Daniel (Beth Evans), grandmother of Anna and David Margulies, Trevor and Chloe Evans, plus Sophie and Natalya Harp, step-mom of Nancy Burke (Steve Harp), and sister of Michael Rowder, passed away peacefully at home on January 18th. She loved art, photography, food, travel, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, and later in life, embraced photography with curiosity and enthusiasm. She took classes at DePaul University and Truman College and exhibited her work in a variety of venues, including in two Truman calendars. She had an adventurous spirit and was a true foodie who loved exploring tastes from around the globe. She likewise had a discerning nose for spirits in all their various forms, from fine wine to mezcal shots. Most of all, she cared deeply about her family and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Her social compassion extended to a concern for the welfare of others, as exemplified by her active support of multiple organizations that provided help to those in need.
