Obituary

Geraldine “Geri” Goldberg (nee Prosk), 89, passed away on September 14, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Harvey for 65 wonderful years; loving mother of Marla Goldberg, Donna(Jeffery) Hersh and Jack (Susan) Goldberg, affectionately known as “GG” to Juliana (Howard) Abrams, Jordan (Stephanie) Hersh, Max and Terry Goldberg; loving great-grandmother of Sadie Dove Abrams; much loved sister of the late Shirley (Harry) Ellis, the late Paul (Linda) Prosk and her twin, the late Melvin. Geri met her adoring Harvey in Michigan City, Indiana, and three years later they married and began their family. Throughout her life, Geri faced any challenge with strength, grace, and determination. Geri treasured the many friendships she made throughout her life. She and Harvey enjoyed a full social life. She was especially proud of her Jewish heritage and was an involved member of Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah, making synagogue and her Jewish community an important part of her life. She cherished Shabbat and holiday meals shared with family and friends and the traditions that brought loved ones together. Geri and Harvey shared a wonderful life filled with love, family, and travel. Together their travel including two trips to Israel. They generously supported many Jewish organizations that were close to their hearts. Above all, family was Geri’s greatest joy. She was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother, she was a doting, caring and generous grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love, strength, warmth, and devotion to those she loved will remain in their hearts forever. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Memorial donations in Geri’s name to CJE SeniorLife or JNF Trees in Israel would be greatly appreciated. Chapel service, Thursday, September 17, 2026, 10:00 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
