Linda R. Friedman (nee Marcus), 87, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026. Beloved wife and best friend of Charles for 69 wonderful years; loving mother of Andrew (Deborah), Lawrence (Kimberly Sterling), Debra (Scott) Viger and the late Laura (Keith) McTyer; cherished “Momo” of Eli, Charlee, Dan (Krista) Viger, Roxanne Viger, Mitch Viger, Samantha (Michael) Facchinello, Jessi (Anna O’Neal) Manassa and Alexis (Dustin) Shivvers; adored great-grandmother of Quince, Sawyer, Atticus, Jack, Walker, Žemyna, Octavian and Vesper; much-loved sister of Susan Bradford, the late Barry Marcus and the late Harvey Marcus; treasured aunt, great-aunt and dear friend to many. Linda and her beloved Charles met in Massachusetts, married and began their life together, building a beautiful family. In the 1970s, a new job opportunity for Charles brought the family to Buffalo Grove, where Linda embraced life as a devoted mother and loved being surrounded by children. Once her own children were in school, Linda turned her passion for early childhood into a career, first working as a preschool teacher and eventually owning and operating Miss Honey’s Preschool in Buffalo Grove. After retiring from early childhood education, Linda and Charles continued making wonderful memories together. They loved to travel, exploring destinations throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, and Australia. Linda also enjoyed working as a travel agent, sharing her love of travel with others. Linda had a love for the simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed shopping, was an avid reader of fiction, and loved cooking and baking. She rarely visited someone’s home without bringing something she had baked, especially her cherished lemon squares. She was also a dedicated Mah Jong player and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie that came with every game. Above all, Linda was happiest when she was with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but perhaps her greatest joy and proudest achievement was becoming “Momo” and later a great-grandmother. Her love, warmth and generosity touched the lives of so many, and the memories she created with her family will be cherished forever. Linda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
