Obituary

Ronald Cohen, 96, passed peacefully on February 18, 2026. Beloved husband and best friend of Doris (née Pannemann) for 76 wonderful years; loving father of Robert, Jay (Shelley), Susan (the late Mark) Friedman, and the late Bruce; cherished “Papa Dotie” of Jackelyn (Mark Carman) Bernfeld, Benjamin (Sarah) Cohen, Shayna (John) Hayes, and Mason (Indigo Doll) Friedman; treasured great-grandfather of Beckett, Layla, Cooper, Hugo, Adina, Clara, Cameron, and Ella; much-loved brother of Leslie, Joel, and Merle Cohen; dear uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many. Ron was a hardworking and successful businessman and founder of Ronco Industrial Supply. Widely respected for his leadership in his industry, Ron was a mentor to many business owners and became like a brother to his customers, building lasting relationships throughout his career. Ron was devoted to his wife and family; he coached Little League, was a fierce B’nai B’rith bowler, loved golfing with family and long-time friends, and enjoyed wintering in South Florida and Palm Desert. Above all, he was his family’s biggest champion, cheerleader, and inspiration. He will be dearly missed by all. Memorial donations in Ron’s honor may be made to Temple Jeremiah 937 Happ Road, Northfield, IL 60093 or Glenkirk 3504 Commercial Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062. Chapel service Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
