Aunt Sandy was upbeat, curious, funny, supportive and positive. Positive! She was unlike the other adults in the world I was raised in- where even a passing interest in children would be remarkable, Sandy was really interested in you. And she was modest about both her education and the depth of her knowledge of modern Jewish life. Uncle Walter was genuis at being negative. Aunt Sandy was his polar opposite. She was nice! Warm! Friendly! Walter was unhappy his entire life that wasn’t rich. He wanted to be loaded.-at the very least to have more money than my father. I don’t think Sandy ever cared about any of this. She was happy with what she had. She kept the same basket of artificial fruit on her kitchen table for three decades. And why not? I was fascinated by the wax apple, I probably examined it 200 times.
It was always a joy to see her.

Although not seeing Sandy very often, she was always warm and welcoming to our family at various Lee and Steffi gatherings. We know that she was a loving, kind mother, wife, mother-in-law, and grandmother, and whatever other familial roles she had as the matriarch of the Becker family. What a lucky family.

To a lady who always remembered every special occasion. Who always had something nice to say. Who always had a smile. May her memory be a blessing.

Aunt Sandy was the youngest and coolest aunt , only 17 years older than me. She impressed me with the ease she conducted her life as an artist, wife, and mother. She assured me that she learned everything from her family and simply passed it on. She leaves an enormous legacy.. God is love so I believe she will always be around. Rest in peace Aunt Sandy, great job!
