Obituary
Marvin Friman, 93, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Boynton Beach, Florida. Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn (née Cooper) for 53 wonderful years; loving father of Edward (Laurie), Lynne, Ronald (Emma), Michael (Jody), and Ellen (Tony) Karmin; cherished “Papa Marv” to eight adoring grandchildren; treasured uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Born and raised in Chicago, Marvin met the love of his life, Marilyn, at a local synagogue event. They married and soon began raising their family, first in Arlington Heights and later in Highland Park, where they built a lifetime of cherished memories together. Marvin was a dedicated Certified Public Accountant who genuinely loved his profession and valued the lasting relationships he developed with his clients over many decades. His remarkable work ethic and passion for helping others kept him practicing until the age of 92, when he finally retired to Boynton Beach, Florida. Deeply proud of his Jewish heritage, Marvin devoted countless hours to his synagogue community. He served on several synagogue boards and was honored to serve as Past President of Temple Chai, where his leadership, generosity, and commitment left a lasting impact. Outside of work and community service, Marvin embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed playing tennis, watching movies, dancing with Marilyn, and traveling throughout the world. A proud Army veteran who served in the Korean War. Marvin will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, faith, and community. He touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Memorial donations in Marvin’s memory may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), www.pancan.org. Interment will take place at Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Chapel service, Thursday, July 2, 2026; 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
