Obituary
Sherrie was an extraordinary woman whose impeccable taste and deep passion for fashion set her apart in the industry. Widely regarded as one of the top shoe buyers in the country, she built a reputation for curating exceptional collections and setting trends. In 1994, Shirise received the prestigious Michael Angelo Shoe Award from the Italian Trade Commission, recognizing it as the #1 women’s Italian shoe store in the United States.
Located on Park Avenue in Glencoe, Shirise became an iconic boutique, serving customers from the North Shore as well as clients regionally and across the country for more than 30 years. Sherrie’s keen eye and distinctive style left a lasting mark-so much so that many women still cherish and wear pieces they purchased from her store to this day. Her legacy endures as an inspiration to women everywhere. Through vision, determination, and extraordinary taste, she built one of the most successful independent high-fashion shoe and accessory boutiques in the country. One thing she adored more than her love for shoes and accessories was her love for her family, especially her 3 grandchildren, Avery, Tanner and Eli.

As a child, I will always remember Mrs. Oppenheim as one of the most beautiful women I had seen in real life. She was fashion forward and perfectly put together. On top of that, she was just as lovely on the inside. As a neighborhood kid, I always felt welcomed in your home at any time. When tragedy struck my family, I remember her being extra supportive and caring. My heart goes out to Mr. Oppenheim, Monty, Brandi, Lori and the rest of her family and friends who will miss her the most. Per your request, I made a donation in her name to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation. May you find peace in your memories of her.
