Obituary
Allen was a collector of people, mayor of every room he entered. He spent the last 17 years fostering new friendships in Indianapolis, alongside his loving partner Patti Hester. He treasured his many lifelong friends from Senn High School, the University of Illinois, and his years as a manufacturer’s representative in the housewares and giftwares industries. His affinity for new cars, classic movies, old time radio, live theatre, popcorn, and Portillo’s is shared by all those who loved him. He is already, and forever will be, missed dearly.

My father, Jim Mills, and Allen were very good friends. They met in high school and maintained a lifelong friendship throughout their lives and careers. Jim passed away on September 10th, 2025, and I had the pleasure of speaking with Allen at the time. They really had a true friendship, heartfelt and consistent. I am sending my love to all of the family. Allen is a true friend and so well-spoken, and I feel honored to have had the chance to speak with him many times over the years. Wishing you all well during this time.

Allen was a terrific addition to Indianapolis. I knew him from 2 sources. His membership at Broadmoor Country Club and our weekly Romeo lunches. He always had a smile on his face and always a good word to everyone he came int contact with. While we understood, it was sad when he moved back to Chicago. We knew we would never see that pleasant face again.
