Obituary
We remember Lynne as a vibrant person. She came of age in the 1960s in Detroit, advocating fiercely for the issues facing her generation. At St. John’s College, she studied the great books and discussed philosophy, arts and ancient languages with her classmates. Lynne was a seeker who looked for greater life meaning through Transcendental Meditation and Judaism. She married Steve Corneli and lived on a farm in Wisconsin with their two beautiful children. We remember, also, the challenges she faced during and after a mental health crisis. After a time working as a phone operator and file clerk, Lynne returned to studies in her 50s and received a master’s degree in library science. Later, she lived at Greenwood Care in Evanston, Illinois, where she managed their library and wrote for their newsletter for many years. We remember Lynne as a family member who participated in many family celebrations, holidays, and pickle-making sessions. Even in her waning years, which she spent at Elevate Care in Riverwoods, her face would light up when visitors played music, and she had joy in her eyes when spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lynne’s loved ones include her parents Jack z’l’ and Beatrice z’l’ Canchester; son Joseph Corneli of Oxford, England; daughter and son-in-law Zoe Corneli and Ian Coe of San Francisco; grandchildren Clio and Zev Coe; sister, Dale Cohodes; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Paula Canchester; former husband Steve Corneli; along with many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Lynne’s Neshama is now exploring the other side.
The family would like to thank Lynne’s supportive caregivers at Moments Hospice and Elevate Care Riverwoods. The family is looking forward to gathering together for a memorial celebration in the near future.
