Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Herbert Kran, a family man of uncompromising honesty, persistent strength, fierce loyalty, genuine sincerity, and impeccable character and integrity. Herbert was born April 11, 1929 in Chicago Illinois, son of the late Harry and Eleanor Kran. Herb transitioned out of this life on January 17, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones in Naperville, Illinois. Throughout his 96 years, he touched many lives with his humor, perseverance, giving spirit, and his love of chocolate. Herb earned his Bachelor of Science Degree to pursue his career in Accounting. He retired as a Payroll Accountant from Northrop Grumman, serving 25 years there. Herb enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was typically a reserved man who enjoyed playing card games, traveling, watching movies and football, and debating. He was also an animal lover who loved dogs and cats. Herb was well known for his love of chocolate and his relentlessness. Herb will be greatly missed and remembered. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Beverly Weihofen; second wife, Dahlia Kran; his son, Jeffrey Kran; and his daughter-in-law, Marlene Kran. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Burton Hudak; his sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bernie Levin; his five grandchildren, Ariel (Katelyn) Kran, Rivkah Kran, Yosef Kran, Gavriella (Jordan) Bradley, and Devorah Kran; his three great grandchildren, Eliana Kran, Efraim (EJ) Bradley, and Hafziva (Ziva) Bradley; and estranged stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Herb’s family was the light of his life. A small and private memorial service celebrating Herb’s humble and honorable life was held on January 20, 2026 at 2:30 P.M. at Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Herb’s legacy by learning beyond the confines of the current medical system, pushing beyond the boundaries of indoctrination and the known, and share these insights with others. We believe this would be an incredible tribute to an extraordinary man.
