Obituary

Daisy Spanier of Highland Park, Illinois died September 13, 2026. Daisy was born October 23, 1948 and grew up in Cochin Kerala India. She went to nursing school in Ireland, finishing her degree at the Nightingale School of London. She later moved to Highland Park where she met and married her soulmate Larry and raised their daughter Jennifer in Highland Park where she lived until the death of her husband over 3 years ago. Daisy spent most of her nursing career between St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan and Highland Park Hospital. She spent decades caring for newborns and was often considered by many as the “baby whisperer.” Her greatest joy was time spent with family along with her devotion to caring for newborns. Amongst family, she was also well known for her artistic abilities cooking and gardening. Later in life she was proudly engaged as “Grammy” to Aaron and Micah. She was known to be fiercely loyal and dedicated to those she loved. Survivors include her loving daughter Jennifer Spanier-Stiasny (David Stiasny); cherished grandchildren Aaron and Micah Stiasny; dear brothers Jos Anthony Puthenveetil (Tresa), John Puthenveetil (Rani), Stanley Puthenveetil (Lovely), James Puthenveetil (Suja); and dear sisters Mercy Chirayil (Tomy), Flossy Vennikandam (George), and Tessy Puthenveetil. She was the devoted daughter to the late Peter and Angela Puthenveetil and loving aunt to 19 nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
