Obituary

In Loving Memory of Shari Kraar Rosen

83 Years of Love, Laughter, Strength, and a Life Beautifully Lived

Some people enter a room, and others illuminate it. Shari Kraar Rosen was one of those rare people who could light up a room simply by walking into it. With her beautiful smile, infectious charisma, fiery spirit, and unmistakable zest for life, Shari was a woman who left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

At 83 years young, Shari leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories, an extraordinary legacy of love, and a family who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

Above all else, Shari was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and daughter. Family was the foundation of her life, and her love ran deep. Her devotion was especially evident in the tender care she gave her own mother, welcoming her into her home and lovingly caring for her throughout her final days. It was simply who Shari was. When she loved someone, she loved them fiercely and wholeheartedly.

And fierce she was! Shari had a wonderful feistiness about her, a passionate nature, and a fire in her soul. She knew what she believed, wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and could certainly hold her own. You might not have wanted to find yourself on her bad side, but if you were fortunate enough to be on her good side, she treated you like gold. Beneath that spirited personality was a heart overflowing with generosity, warmth, and love.

Shari had an insatiable curiosity about the world. She loved learning, engaging in spirited political conversations, appreciating the wonders of nature, and finding beauty in the little things. She embraced life with enthusiasm and had a remarkable ability to make ordinary moments feel special.

In 2004, Shari met Daniel Rosen, and theirs was a love story that seemed almost destined from the beginning. It was nearly love at first sight, and together they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, laughter, companionship, and countless cherished memories. They traveled the world, discovered wonderful restaurants, returned to favorite places, cultivated lasting friendships, and made the most of their years together. They also shared a deep appreciation for the arts, especially live theater and classical music concerts. Whether enjoying a beautiful performance, discovering a new destination, or simply spending time together, Shari and Dan knew how to savor life’s most wonderful experiences.

Shari also had a special gift for making a house a home. Throughout the many homes she and Dan shared, she delighted in decorating, improving, and creating beautiful spaces where memories could flourish. Each home became another chapter in their remarkable life together.

One of their greatest shared joys was their beloved dog, Harry Rosen, who was truly their child in every sense of the word. Harry was adored beyond measure, and his passing on July 8, 2026 left an enormous space in their hearts. There is something comforting in imagining Shari reunited with her beloved Harry, whose unconditional love brought them so much happiness.

Shari’s Jewish heritage and traditions held a special place in her heart. She loved celebrating the Jewish holidays, especially preparing Passover Seders and bringing family together around the table. Those gatherings, filled with tradition, conversation, laughter, and love, created memories that her children and grandchildren will treasure forever.

Shari is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Rosen; her children, Julie Taliaferro, Ellen Gorrell, and Jonathan Kraar; her stepson, Andy Rosen, and his wife, Marlene; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan Gorrell and his wife, Serena, Jordan Gorrell, Connor Gorrell and his wife, Emily, and Adam and Filip Rosen; and her precious great-grandchildren, Payton and Rowan.

Shari is preceded in death by her parents Morris (1971) and Jeanette Kornbluth (2002), her brother Jerome Kornbluth (1953) and her daughter-in-law Donna Kraar (2021).

While her family grieves the loss of this remarkable woman, they also celebrate the tremendous gift of having been loved by her.

Shari lived with passion. She loved with intensity. She spoke her mind, followed her heart, embraced adventure, and never lost her appreciation for the beauty of the world around her.

Her beautiful smile may no longer light up a room, but the warmth of her love will illuminate the lives of her family forever.

A woman like Shari is never truly gone. She lives on in the traditions she created, the memories she inspired, the strength she passed down, and the love she gave so freely.

Forever loved. Forever cherished. Forever our Shari.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, in loving memory of Shari, honoring her life while helping bring hope to others affected by cancer, www.cancer.org.
