Morton S. Owrutsky, 86, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Paula (nee Burman) for 51 wonderful years; loving father of Rita Burman, Larry (Elizabeth Schroeder), and Jake Owrutsky; loving grandfather of Taylor and Riley; wonderful brother-in-law of Peter (Tamara) Burman and Minna (Joseph) Pirogovsky; treasured uncle of Albert Burman, Maya, and Alex Pirogovsky; and friend to many. Morton was preceded in death by his much-loved brother, the late Harold; his sister, the late Pauline; his adored parents, the late Isadore and Gussie and his beloved wife, Paula. Morton grew up in Chicago, where he met his beloved Paula, married, and began his family. He proudly worked for the Chicago Transit Authority for more than 30 years as a maintenance and repair mechanic. A devoted husband and father, Morton sometimes worked as many as three jobs to provide for and support his family. Some of Morton’s greatest moments were spent surrounded by the people he loved. He treasured taking cross-country trips with his family and enjoyed his passion for collecting historic firearms. His dedication to his family, strong work ethic, and generous spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. Morton will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
