Obituary
Beverly Klein (née Berkovitz), 81, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of Stan Klein, with whom she shared nearly 54 wonderful years of marriage. Beverly was a devoted mother to Michelle (Andy) Farra and Amy (Jason) Bennett, and the deeply proud Grandma of Maya and Gavin Farra, as well as Isabelle, Hailey, and Camden Bennett. She was the loving sister of Rochelle Lichterman and the late Helen Dredze; cherished daughter of the late S. Mayer and Shirley Berkovitz; dear sister-in-law of Lionel and Diane Dredze; and the close cousin and best friend of Phyllis Friedman. She was also a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews. Raised in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, Beverly graduated from South Shore High School and DePaul University. She raised her daughters in Lincoln Park before settling in Wilmette nearly 30 years ago. An active member of Beth Hillel B’nai Emunah in Wilmette, she also held a deep love for the warm community she and Stan built around their home in Michiana. Beverly dedicated her career to education, teaching for several years in Park Ridge before sharing her passion as an art teacher at St. Clement School in Chicago for many years. Her artistic spirit and love for joyful whimsy were reflected in every corner of her home. An avid traveler, she delighted in collecting unique Judaica from around the globe. Above all, Beverly cherished her family. She loved being a mom, famously pouring her creativity into decorating for her daughters’ birthdays and family events. Her absolute favorite role in life, however, was being “Grandma”—she beamed with pride over her five grandchildren and gushed about their achievements at every opportunity. Her vibrant spirit and unconditional warmth will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PJ Library, https://pjlibrary.rallybound.org/Donate. Chapel service Tuesday, November 3, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W.
