Fira Gershik, 84, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Iosif Gershik, with whom she shared 66½ wonderful years of marriage; loving mother of Vladimir (Yelena) Gershik and Aleksandr (Diana) Gershik; cherished grandmother of Dimitry Gershik, Terry (Gavin) Blasczyk, and Shelby Gershik; adored great-grandmother of Lily and Mia Blasczyk; much-loved sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. In 1995, Fira immigrated to the United States with her beloved husband and was overjoyed to reunite with her children and begin a new chapter together as a family. Deeply devoted to those she loved, Fira found her greatest happiness in caring for her family. She took immense pride in helping raise her grandchildren, and her kitchen was always filled with the warmth of her exceptional cooking and generous hospitality. She delighted in preparing meals and ensuring no one ever left her table hungry. Fira was proud of her Jewish heritage, embracing its traditions and values throughout her life. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, strength, and devotion to her family, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment will follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
