Obituary
“Doc” was raised in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago and was an alumnus of the University of Illinois Chicago Medical School. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. An extraordinary man, Harold was kind, passionate, thoughtful, and caring. He was an anesthesiologist for many years at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, where he was greatly admired and loved by colleagues and patients alike. His presence and kindness will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Memorial donations in his honor may be made to the Jewish United Fund, www.juf.org/donate. Graveside service: Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 11 AM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Dr. Heyman was a remarkable teacher, friend and mentor. He taught us obstetrical anesthesia with kindness, compassion and humility. I have many fond memories of him and I will carry his lessons with me always.

Closest friend and classmate in medical school. Groomsman at my wedding. Learned much from jim about medicine, history, Judaism, and life. Had a wonderful sense of humor also.
