I met Howie about 30 years ago via friends and in those years he was always kind , thoughtful and authentic .!! Friendship should be kind and good and that he was .Howie had a great big heart and soul which made the world a better place. The world needs more Howies . Thus his goodness lives on in my heart . God Bless and condolences to his family. .

I met Howie when I was in 3rd grade, our paths crossed throughout life and we became close friends and eventually played music together in several bands, most notably Electric Medicine which he cherished his part in…
RIP my brother, love you old friend 🧡

I got to know Howard after becoming acquaintances to his other amazingly gifted and talented musician friend Ira, and when we got to talking about music, and my love of jazz in particular, it wasn’t long after that, and I found myself in the band. It was great to play with them and share musical expressions, and Howard showed me a different world of music, and I am grateful to a part of it. I will miss him… He was a great soul, and a musical friend…

Besides being classmates in all of our years in school,Howard was always great to hang around. One vacation we went to Telluride Co together. Howard and I were out in town one night listening to music. We played pool with locals who were very good but Howard & I eventually won the table for a long time. You see Howie had a pool table growing up that we all played. His game came back and not only did we win the table for a long time, but we had new friends! Howie had a way of being good with people.

You really don’t understand what you have until it’s gone.
My dad was many things, but most importantly he was a good, strong-willed man with a song in his heart and a smile on his face that could light up a room. I learned many things from him including what it means to be a man of your word, how to bear the burdens of others while being true to yourself, and most importantly what it means to love well. I’ll never forget our long talks on everything from music to philosophy and your many wild stories from your youth about all the places you’ve been, people you’ve met, and things you saw.
We’ll miss you, dad. See you at Home. Peace ☮️

I first met him back in high school, hearing him play guitar, he was one of the first people I knew that inspired me to make music and I’m saddened that we lost contact in the last few decades. One of the founding members of Electric Medicine. So many shared memories and adventures going back from Ira’s basement studio on Suffield Court, to Weedstocks, Peacefests and other gigs, too many to recall. My heart goes out to the family and all of the former and current members of the band.
Rest easy Electric Medicine brother, you are loved and will be missed.

Words cannot express the magnitude of grief, sorrow and anguish felt for losing our brother, Howie. I first met Howie in 1979 when I started playing music in Iras basement in Skokie. I was only 15 at the time, and Howie, being 5 years older than me, became not just a good friend but a mentor musically as well. We’ve had many good times together throughout the years which will be cherished and never forgotten. Howie was such an easy going, good guy with a genuine , sweet soul. In all the time I’ve known him I’ve never heard him talk bad about anyone or raise his voice in anger. He was just a great guy and a great friend. I will miss his presence and playing music with him. He will always be a part of Electric Medicine in spirit and we will one day play music together on the other side. Rest easy my brother..
