Obituary
Janice was a true trailblazer in her profession, breaking barriers as the first female partner in the Detroit office of KPMG in the 1970s. She brought that same dedication and leadership to her community life, serving the Detroit Jewish community in numerous leadership roles. She was president of Jewish Family Services of Metro Detroit, Fleischman Jewish Home and Aging Services, and Orchards Children’s Services, a leading child welfare agency, and she also served as treasurer of the Jewish Federation of Detroit. After moving to Chicago, Janice continued her lifelong commitment to community service as an active member of the Jewish United Fund.
Janice embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She had a deep love for travel, an avid passion for golf, and an unwavering devotion to Michigan sports. Yet above all, her greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Janice will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JUF, Maggie Daley Center for Women’s Cancer Care, ACLU, and Planned Parenthood.

I have known Jan all of my life, Sol and Rhoda were my parents best friends. We spent so many times together as kids as we grew up. I have fond memories of the annual golf tournament in Sarasota with all our parents and the “kids”. Jan became my dad’s go to person for all his tax needs and myself as well. She loved her girls and was so thrilled when they married and gave her grandchildren to dote on. She will be missed by all.

We met Jan as friends of her daughters. Our children are older than her grand children. When she would see our kids, she would light up and engage with them. I saw that same light in her many times with her grand children as they arrived. I know Jess was very proud of how her mom fought to break the glass ceiling in her profession and demanded to be treated equally to men. Her love for her family was absolutely evident. She will be missed.
