Vicki Siegelman

Viki and I reconnected during our ” highschool library lives” . Viki was at Loyola Academy and I was at New Trier. There were many wonderful memories shared during Viki’s eulogy and I smiled upon hearing the librarian references – the importance of finding reliable resources, and the pursuit of knowledge. May we continue to honor Viki’s memory as Lifelong Learners.

Vicki and I grew up in the same Morton Grove neighborhood a few blocks apart and attended Park View School together. She was very smart and always a bit reserved. Her dad was a HAM radio enthusiast and he showed me all his equipment in their home and how to use it. In their backyard, he had one of the very tall outdoor HAM radio antennas required at that time. I was interested in electronics back then, so found it all so fascinating. I was always grateful that Vicki introduced me to her dad for that experience. I knew Vicki in the later years when she was working in management at Old Orchard Shopping Center. That was so interesting to me because my business was a small strip center real estate developer and owner. Vicki was always so pleasant, warm and welcoming. My deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences go out to her family. She will be missed.

Vicki gave her heart and bubbly energy to Grandma Gert Kasakoff, visiting with her, giving her joy and love. As Vicki was sharing her music to heal, she came to Grandma’s apartment and played for her. When Grandma expressed her love of guitar music, Vicki arranged for a guitarist to serenade Grandma with old standards – they sang along together. It was a moment of memories and dancing and love at a time when Grandma’s arthritis caused much pain. Later a harpist came, and we lost ourselves in the lilting music. Vicki and David’s generosity and intuitive sense of how to heal and how to share that magic is amazing. Thank you.

Our deepest condolences go out to David for the loss of his beloved Vicki. We enjoyed hearing about her many gifts and seeing the medley of photographs of her well-lived life. We got to know David and Vicki quite recently. We enjoyed her wit and warmth. We were struck by their deep and loving bond. May her memory be for a blessing.

Vicki and I were 2nd cousins among many, many 2nd cousins on my father’s side, seeing each other at family occasions and the annual Cousins Club Picnics. We had the same flute teacher, Ralph Johnson, who played in the Chicago Symphony. Vicki was a much better player than I was! But she and I got together to play duets when we were first married with little kids. We had much in common – love of the outdoors, music, quilting. I will miss her warmth, intelligence, creativity and friendship.

One of my favorite memories was playing dress-up with my sister Vicki.
I also loved listening to my sister play the flute and piccolo in the concert and marching band. Vicki really loved music. In fact, Vicki studied music therapy and played her flute for people in the hospital. Also, Vicki and David played their instruments for my wedding.
On another note, a silly memory, is the countless times that Vicki would twirl her fingers in my curly hair!!
Besides all of those memories, Vicki had a great laugh, was so smart, clever, and yet could sometimes drive me crazy!!
Miss you so much Vicki Lynn. Love you forever.
