Obituary

Lily (Lillian) Riskin, age 98, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Charlie; loving mother of Phillip (Sharon), Daniel (Marsha), Terri Klaus and Wendy Gantman; cherished grandmother of Stephanie, Robert, Matthew, Taylor, Lauren, Maxwell and Jeanette; adored great grandmother of Doyle, Ryland, Lorelei, Brynn, Cadence, Kinley, Graham, Eliott, Benji, Stevie, Elena and Mia; much loved daughter of the late Isadore and Bernice Shreeman; wonderful sister of Janet, Bertha, Marne and the late Ida; treasured aunt, great aunt friend of many. She was born in 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Isadore and Bernice Shreeman. She was very close to her four sisters. As a young adult, she moved to Chicago where she met her future husband, Charles Riskin. They married on April 15, 1950 and lived in Skokie, IL for over 50 years. Lillian spent her later years living in Palatine. In her early working years, she was a secretary for the Army. Later, she worked part-time as an insurance underwriter at Prestige Insurance company, but she focused her time and energy on being a homemaker and devoted mother to Phillip, Daniel, Terri and Wendy. Lily was an excellent cook and baker. She thoroughly enjoyed exercising at home during the early fitness craze,and taking fitness classes at Women’s Workout World. She cherished babysitting for her grandchildren whom she cared for with love. She had boundless energy. She was known as a great neighbor, always looking out for the elders, sharing her treats and helping them with home or yardwork. She will be dearly missed.
