Maria was so much more than a colleague and friend. Over the last 9 years, we stayed in touch through holidays and birthdays, and unintentionally started a tradition of exchanging birthday gifts. Each gift was thoughtful and meaningful, a reflection of the kind and generous person she was. She also introduced me to the delicious mango cake and chicken empanadas that always make me think of her. Maria would check in on me as I went through illness in the last few years. She would pray for me. I look around and see Maria and her kindness in so many of those treasured items and memories. That was the impact she had on people. She made them feel seen, cared for, and loved.

Maria, I will miss you dearly. Thank you for showing this world so much kindness, generosity, and love. Your memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. You made this world a better place. I pray you rest in paradise.

Was an amazing friend and cooworker that I had the chance to have in my life. She was so kind and helpful in our duties at The Northern Tust Company. A true family woman, that love her husband and kids. I count myself blessed to have know her. I thank you God for sharing her in my life. I will see you again one day my sister.

Maricar’s mother was a favorite cousin of my mother who would bring us, Caesar and Rebecca, to Maricar’s home after Mass. Lunch was always yummy! We were all very young then. Like my brother and sister, I remember Maricar always smiling and cheerful. We reconnected in 1994 in Manila. She was involved in the securities industry representing a foreign fund investing in the stock market. We lost touch after both of us left the industry in 2003. I did not know she moved to Chicago. I remember her well. We pray for her now as, surely, she also prays for us.

I called Maricar – Inday. I always played with her whenever I stayed at their home. She was like an older sister to me even though she and I were the same age. She was an old soul and a beautiful person inside and out!
