I have the most fond memories of growing up next door to Darren. Our mothers yelling back and forth over the fence and being on the phone together when we weren’t all outside. Running up and down the backyard and the posed photos our mom’s made us take together as kids feels like just yesterday. You created a beautiful life for yourself Darren. Julie and your boys will make you proud and carry your legacy forever. May peace and comfort take over for you and your memory be a blessing to all that adored you.
Love, Dana

Darren and I met because we both were Stage 4 RCC Warriors fighting passionately to live a long life so we could continue to love our families and enjoy life. I had the privilege of fighting this disease with Darren and got to see his zest for living, love of Julie and the boys and love of all things sports, mostly Kansas. We later saw the same Oncologists, and at the end, were going to get the same Clinical Trial treatment. We corresponded through FB Direct Messaging and also had lunch where I got to meet his wife, Julie. You could quickly see how much in love they were and how they were going to tackle this challenge together – which they did. A few months ago, we were all supposed to have lunch againn and then Dan’s challenges got even more challenging. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that second opportunity to meet in person. In any event, I feel like Dennis, Julie and I were good friends because we had a common enemy – Cancer. We fought so valiantly together. May Darren’s legacy live on forever in all he touched including Julie and the boys. I know I will never forget that smile and his inspiring fight. I will miss you Darren. And I will continue to fight in your honor and in honor of your entire family.

To Julie, Carson, Landon and Ashley,
I watched Darren grow up living right next door. Thru his Bar Mitzvah, going to KU and meeting Julie all wonderful times. How proud he was of his boys too! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time in your lives.

My sympathies go to your family, Julie, Carson, Landon and Ashley. What a beautiful family. I met Darren when I managed his property in Wheeling and after they moved to BG. What a wonderful and vibrant personality stopping at nothing but to have a good time with his family and friends.
I admired how he knew his illness was there but he didn’t let it stop him from
Living his life to the fullest.
Keep your thoughts and memories Close to your heart!

I could write a a best-selling novel filled with all the memories of my Darren and isn’t that what a life so well-lived is all
about? His intense love of his family first and foremost followed by his deep commitment to his career and to his so many friends……what more of a gift could a mother-in-law ask for? My Julie has won the lottery having chosen our Darren as her forever soulmate. He will never be forgotten in my heart.
